Senior Senator and Committee Chairperson of Government Affairs and Reforms
Eleonore Fisher has been a democratic senator of Vermont since she was elected into the Vermont state legislature at the age of 25, after graduating from Harvard Law School summa cum laude as valedictorian in 1983. While in the state legislature, Senator Fisher focused on promoting and advocating for civil rights with a passion that has intesified over the years. Elected as senator for the first time in 1990, she is the senior senator in Vermont and the committee chairperson of the Government Affairs and Reform. Additionally, Senator Fisher has been ranked the fourth most effective senator and the second most powerful.
Currently, she and her office staff are working hard to pass a billconcerning gay marriage rights, which she will introduce shortly to the 111th Congress. As a supporter of these rights, Senator Fisher supports legalizing gay marriage nationally and urges President Obama to rethink his platform on gay marriage, which gives the power of the gay marriage decision to the states. The senator has decided that beginning with a repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act would lay a strong foundation for legalizing gay marriage in the United States of America.
Senator Fisher is married to United States Navy Admiral James Emerson Fletcher and has six children. When not in Washington, she resides with her family in Montpelier. When not involved in hugely important matters concerning the nation, Senator Fisher enjoys fooseball and flying kites with her family.

[To overturn the Defense of Marriage Act]
Be it enacted by the Members of the McG Congress of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. The Right to Love in the USA Act
This Act may be cited as the “The Right to Love in the USA Act”. SECTION 2. FINDINGS
The highest law of the land in the United States of America is the Constitution.
The Defense of Marriage Act is a breach of the Full Faith and Credit clause of the Constitution.
The United States of America does not grant full civil rights to homosexuals, which is a breach of the spirit of the Constitution.
Overturning the Defense of Marriage Act would fulfill the Full Faith and Credit clause and pave the way for more gay civil rights legislature. SECTION 3: PURPOSE
To make each state recognize same-sex marriages granted in other states.
To grant the rights of heterosexual marriages to homosexual marriages in the United States of America. SECTION 3. ELIGIBILITY.
This bill grants some civil rights to all homosexuals in the United States of America.
This bill makes federal laws synchronize more closely with the Constitution. It fulfills a firmer interpretation of the Constitution. SECTION 4. TERMS AND BENEFITS OF SERVICE
This law makes all individually state-recognized benefits of heterosexual marriage available to homosexual marriage. This includes but is not limited to joint parenting, adopting, fostering; joint insurance policies; automatic inheritance in the absence of a will; and joint filing of tax returns.
